The third volume in the Daimler Art Collection’s Duchamp publication series sheds light on a very interesting facet of the French artist’s life and work, both of which were influenced in different ways by numerous female artists, authors, gallery owners, and collectors. Renate Wiehager and Katharina Neuburger examine the personal, social, and cultural significance of over 100 women within the context of their relations and interactions with Marcel Duchamp and his oeuvre throughout the course of the 20th century.
The 560-page book consists of chronologically grouped short biographies and essays. Colored pages separate the chapters, while a color-coded index on the book’s right margin allows for quick orientation and ease of use. These details, as well as the publication’s typographical highlights, pick up on the intense “Favini Twist Pink” color of the cover paper.
